He joined Strathclyde Police in 1981 and rose to the rank of Superintendent before retiring from the police in 2011. He retired back to Aberfeldy where he lives with his wife, Anne. John is active in the community. He is an Elder in Weem Parish Church, a volunteer for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) and PoppyScotland and President of Aberfeldy Gaelic Choir. As a local Councillor, John is a Trustee on a number of local organisations such as Locus Breadalbane, the Scottish Crannog Centre and the Cuil-An-Daraich Trust.
